          1. I have installed little snitch now and have – as far as I understand this program – blocked all connections for parallels. And I still get this pop up warning. So now I am curious what to do? Can you describe it?

  1. After double click Install, after 1 minut the message ‘Parallels desktop is damaged and cannot be opened’ appears. I have done the Gatekeeper trick, no luck. Any help? thanks!

  2. Fails to install on Catalina 10.15.6. Adding an exception to Gatekeeper, running Install Contents/MacOS in Terminal, or even blocking Internet access to Install file all fail to help with the installation. Unusable release

  3. Forgot to mention that I get the following error message when I try to install. So here is what I did. I copied and pasted the install file in my applications folder. Used Gatekeeper to unlock and then ran the install. I get this pop up message – “Parallels Desktop can be installed from a disk image only. Please open the Parallels Desktop DMG file and try again. Opening the DMG file and clicking on “install” does not work.

  4. I am Getting this error:

    Network initialization failed.

Your virtual machine will continue working normally but will have no network connection.

This error only appears with this cracked version the official trial version work just fine any idea?

    I am on macOS 11 Beta 5

      1. Did you tried @cmedina steps to install, I will download this release and try
Right now I am on beta 7 but @bbkhjy has reported that the error still occurs in beta 8 maybe we’re doing something wrong

  5. Hello,
    I have done all steps:

    1) Disconnect the mac from the internet
    2) Run this before installing:

sudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine (Image path)

    3) Install Parallels Desktop Business Edition v16.0.0-48916
    4) Set automatic updates to “never”
    5) Login to windows to automatically update the “Parallels Tools” program

Everything is ok for a few hours until windows show this message (in windows not in mac) :

This copy of Parallels Desktop may not be genuine. You may be a victim of software counterfeiting ….

Does anyone know how to avoid this message in windows?

    Thank you.

    1. If you are using LittleSnitch:

      1) Open “Show Network Monitor” from notification icon;
      2) Then, filter your app list on the left with “parallels” and be sure that all references to “parallels.com” have a red cross (they are filtered, denied)
      3) If any of them are grey, just check the red cross to deny it
      4) Shut down any Virtual Machine and Parallels application (in case it was running)

Next time you open it, you won’t get the “genuine” nag screen on Windows VW or Mac anymore

      Checked on LittleSnitch 4.5.2.

      1. Thanks for reply but, are you sure that using Little Snitch solves the problem? I ask you that because I use Lulu blocking all connections from Parallels Desktop on the Host (MacOs Catalina 10.15.7) and the “genuine” nag screen on Windows VW get back every 10-20 minutes…

So I’ll try with Little Snitch and will post the results…

        Thanks

        1. Hello,
          I pass you my results:
          1) I installed “Little Snitch” and blocked all Parallels Desktop connections. The next day the message came out again
          2) I Uninstalled Parallels Desktop, I ran cleanmymac, I deleted all files containing “parallels” and rebooted the mac
          3) I disconnected from the internet and reinstalled Parallels desktop. Then in windows I uninstalled Parallels Tools and reinstalled it (without internet connection). Then i restarted windows
          4) The next day the message came out again

So, I will go back to the previous version.

  10. Try this fix, it works for me. The network issue is now resolved.

    Network Fix:
    1. sudo nano /Library/Preferences/Parallels/network.desktop.xml
    2. find 1 (value can be -1), and change the value to the 0
    3. if you can’t to find this tag, then just create it under root tag here

    USB Fix:
    1. /Library/Preferences/Parallels/dispatcher.desktop.xml
    2. 0 find ==>> 1

Result: you can start/restart Parallels without sudo – network will work.

  11. Network Fix:

  12. I show you how I installed the program and it works fine:

    1) Disconnect the mac from the internet
    2) Run this before installing:

    sudo xattr -r -d com.apple.quarantine /path/to/file.dmg

    where “file.dmg” is Parallels Desktop 16.1.2-49151 – Toolbox 4.1.1-3698 by TNT.dmg

    3) Install Parallels Desktop 16.1.2-49151
    4) Set automatic updates to “never”
    5) Network and USB Fix:

    You can see this: https://youtu.be/oYhYRPu6IZc

    Network fix:
    1. sudo nano /Library/Preferences/Parallels/network.desktop.xml
    2. find 1 (value can be -1), and change the value to the 0
    3. if you can’t to find this tag, then just create it under root tag here
Press CTRL+O to save the changes. Press CTRL+X to exit the editor.

    USB Fix:
    1. sudo nano /Library/Preferences/Parallels/dispatcher.desktop.xml
    2. If the current value is 0 then replace with 1
Press CTRL+O to save the changes. Press CTRL+X to exit the editor.

    6) Login to windows to automatically install/update the “Parallels Tools” program

    7) With a free program like this:
    https://www.hhdsoftware.com/free-hex-editor

You must modify the byte at 0x5593 of the file:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Parallels\Parallels Tools\Plugins\DesktopUtilities.dll

Change it from 74 to EB. The warning dialog box “This copy of Parallels Desktop may not be genuine…” will disappear completely.

To edit this file you must end the following process in the task manager:

    – Parallels Control Center

    8) Then you must reboot windows and connect to internet

  13. How to I find 0x5593. If I go to column 00 and line 00055930 the cell entry is “f0” and not 74. Could you please describe that for me in more detail.

  14. Amazing write-up!! Thank you!! One more question since you seem to be the master :). We use parallels to run windows programs that program car ecu and record databus. Since this update (could also have to do with Catalina) the wireless elm devices we use are no longer recognized by windows and can only be used in wired usb configuration. Do you have any suggestions as to where to look in the setup to get these devices working again?

  15. Hello , but I have a problem
your solution it’s ok WORKS FINE. NETWORK USB OK
    but my usb/com-lpt doesn’t work
it’s a usb/serial prog for vigik and a prog for remote universal
it’s my job. if you have an idea …
    thank you

  16. I have same issues. USB works sort of. has a difficult time connecting to many standard usb and wont connect to my usb printer. the devices show up in the drop down of available but they either wont connect or do so in a delayed manner. I also noticed the small blue traffic indicator below the usb icon does not function. not a big deal there. I tried installing the trial and then using the dispatcher.desktop from that installation but no luck 🙁

  17. thank you for easy network fix. now just need permanent USB fix. attached usb devices wont connect to vm even though in drop down from list. yes, I did the replace 0 with 1 fix and still not work correctly

  18. On Apple Silicon I have the free UTM for Mac running rather well. I only need Excel 2016 for old spreadsheets that require Active X, but for this purpose UTM is all I need. I am running Windows 10 ARM on it. Internet is available but rather slow.
